Always examine your cat's ears when you are brushing him, and clean his ears as often as is necessary. Be sure to use an ear cleaning
solution that is formulated specifically for cats’ ears. Start by squirting a small amount of the solution directly into the ear canal
and gently massage the base of the ear. Next, with a cotton swab, gently wipe the inner surface of the ear to remove dirt, wax and debris.
Don't forget to clean into all of the folds and crevices of the ear, but do not use the cotton swab below the area of the ear that you can actually see. After cleaning both ears, cats usually shake their head vigorously because of the unusual feel of the solution in the ear canal.

| If you notice an unusually
large amount of dark-colored debris in your kitten's ears, it is possible that he has contracted ear mites or has an ear infection.
If you observe a discharge or if your kitten scratches at his ears or shakes his head frequently, consult your veterinarian for a
complete diagnosis and treatment. |
