Select Grooming Equipment Suited for Your Dog
There are a wide variety of dog brushes and combs available. Long-coated dogs require a brush that grooms the entire coat, including the dense undercoat. In contrast, short-coated dogs should be brushed with non-irritating soft-bristled brushes. Use your dog’s coat type and his reactions to brushing to help you select a brush type is best for his coat and that he is most likely to enjoy.
For bathing, always use a shampoo that is specifically formulated for a dog’s skin and coat. Longhair dogs may also often benefit from a crème rinse designed to help reduce tangles and matting after baths.
