Neutering
Neutering has several health and behavior benefits for cats. Unwanted pregnancies are prevented and neutered males and females are less likely to develop certain reproductive tract diseases, including some forms of cancer. Neutering also improves behavior by reducing urine marking and the desire to roam, and decreasing aggression between male cats.
Because neutered animals generally live longer than non-neutered pets, failing to neuter can be an important risk factor that affects the quality and length of your cat's life. Veterinarians recommend neutering male cats and spaying female cats unless you plan on showing or breeding your cat. For additional information and advice, consult your veterinarian or breeder.
