Chewing

Chewing is normal bird behavior that cannot be eliminated – only modified or redirected. It is a natural way for the bird to explore his surroundings and satisfy his innate curiosity. Besides allowing for mental stimulation, chewing also serves as the necessary purpose of maintaining his beak and allowing it to grow properly. Toys will keep your bird occupied for hours and prevent him from deciding on your curtains as his chew toy. There are a variety of different toys that you can choose from and each serve a different purpose. Cuttlebones are great because they offer minerals for beak strength (especially calcium). Chew toys and special perches condition and exercise your bird’s beak, and treat toys represent a rewarding challenge. Your bird will have so much fun with these toys, he won’t even think about touching your curtains.
